First United Methodist Church of Germantown
SERVING GERMANTOWN SINCE 1796
•Holy Week 2025 •
Plan to walk with Christ this Holy Week as we discover the conquerable love that changed the world. We invite you to journey with us through this sacred time, from celebration to sorrow to joy- as we remember the final days of Jesus' life and the hope of resurrection.
PALM/PASSION SUNDAY – April 13th, 11 AM
We begin Holy Week with a powerful worship experience that blends the celebration of Palm Sunday with the depth of Passion Week. Special musical guests will guide us through this spiritual journey with song and reflection.
MAUNDY THURSDAY – April 17th, 7 PM@ Bickley's United Methodist Church
Join us for a Spirit-filled, collaborative worship service alongside seven other congregations as we remember
Jesus' Last Supper and his commandment to love one another.
GOOD FRIDAY – April 18th
Two opportunities for worship:
12 Noon at Grace UMC – A traditional “Seven Last Words” service reflecting on Christ’s final sayings from the cross.
7 PM at FUMCOG – A somber, reflective Tenebrae-style service where we take in Jesus’ last acts of love through word, song, light, and darkness.
EASTER SUNDAY – April 20th
6:00 AM: Sunrise Hike in the Wissahickon – Join us at Lover’s Leap to celebrate Easter morning with a peaceful sunrise overlooking the Wissahickon Creek and Lincoln Drive. The group will meet in the parking lot just off Henry Avenue before the Henry Avenue Bridge, then walk together to the scenic rock outcropping, led by John Riggan.
11:00 AM: Easter Worship at FUMCOG – A holy and joy-filled celebration of new life in Christ!
FUMCOG is blessed to be connected with a local “MISSION LINK.” The Link includes 8 other United Methodist Churches in the area with diverse backgrounds and practices. Each Wednesday, we rotate worship spaces and one congregation hosts the whole Link. Please plan to join at at least one of the worships that can be found here.

LENTEN SUNDAY SERIES OVERVIEW:

Did you know that the African American spirituals not only provide profound insights into the human condition
and Christian life but also teach us the rhythms and practice of sacred resistance?
Join us this Lent as each Sunday we dive into the depth, power, truth and witness of a different Spiritual alongside the scripture. Together, we’ll learn the cadence of Christ’s liberating love that goes through the cross to true freedom.
