For Youth in grades 9-12

The Senior High Youth Group meets at 9:45 a. m. on Sunday mornings for informal fellowship and reflection. The group also meets about once a month for special activities and events including trips, parties, cultural events and retreats. One of the most exciting components of the youth program is an annual summer trip which exposes the young people to new experiences that help them develop a deeper faith. Trips may focus on service, learning, or spiritual development.

Past trips have included:

FUMCOG's sister community in Fondwa, Haiti – where we learned about life and faith in a developing country;

Appalachia Service Project – a challenging trip involving home repair projects in West Virginia and Tennessee

Sierra Service Project – a similar work trip located in California

Taizé – a monastic community in France with a special outreach to young people from all over the world.

New Orleans – where youth assisted in rebuilding homes destroyed by hurricane Katrina and flooding caused by the failed levee system.

On Aug 19th, 2007, the youth group led worship and shared “Reflections from New Orleans.”  Audio and text versions are available in the sermon section.
