MUSIC at FUMCOG
Music is the heart and soul of FUMCOG and central to our worship experience. From congregational singing to music from our 4 manual pipe organ, baby grand piano and 50 bell carillon, we experience a wide range of music.
Our Chancel Choir is comprised of volunteers and four professional section leaders. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7:30-9:15PM, and Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:30AM. Anyone who wants to lift voices in song is encouraged to come and sing with us - we would love to have you!
Throughout the year different groups of musicians from the congregation provide alternative music, from folk to gospel and blues. We have also experienced Taize worship traditions.
Special Programs
FUMCOG presents a number of special programs and worship services throughout the year. One Advent highlight is Candlelight, which features organ, choral and carillon music of the season. A series of Sunday afternoon concerts have featured jazz, organ and other music styles over the years. Many visiting choirs (such as Soweto Women’s Choir, Morgan State Choir, Settlement Children’s Choirs) have filled our worship space with beautiful music. At Halloween, silent films with organ accompaniment have entertained the neighborhood.
